For our summer show this year, we are taking Brudenell Piano Sessions on the road again, this time marking the occasion with a visit to The Attic on Sheaf Street in the city centre. As always, expect a typically varied and captivating evening of live music centred around the piano, in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. It’s piano music; for everyone. Carving out her own space in the pop landscape, Lois has quickly established herself as an important rising voice amongst the next wave of Northern artists. With a lyrical eye for the experiences that often go unspoken, the Leeds-based songwriter blends elements of pop, soul and alternative rock with emotionally resonant storytelling. Now entering a new era in her journey as an independent artist, the rollout for Lois’ sophomore EP begins with lead single ‘MINE’. Fresh from a set at BBC Introducing Live at The Grand, it channels the infectious live energy that has already gained supports alongside The Lottery Winners and Etta Marcus, a sold-out headline at Hyde Park Book Club and slots at Live At Leeds and Liverpool Sound City. Arriving almost two years after her debut EP Strange Men, which gained appraise from Radio 1 and BBC Introducing, as well as Wonderland, Clash, Notion, and EARMILK, Lois’ next chapter is proving to be an exciting one. Keano Ritchie is Bradford-based classical and jazz pianist, with a passion for both genres. His journey with the piano began at the tender age of six when he first discovered the magic of music. During the pandemic, he immersed himself in learning blues for an entire year. This enriching experience was a crucial foundation that opened the door to exploring diverse musical styles. Following the blues, he became captivated by the free expression of jazz, which eventually led to shifting focus towards classical music. Despite not following a traditional path in classical training, his unique "hybrid" approach to learning has allowed Keano to cultivate a distinctive style, demonstrating a unique flexibility at the instrument. He will be studying here in Leeds in September. Tom Rogerson is a pianist, keyboardist and composer based in Suffolk. He released his debut solo album Retreat To Bliss in March 2022 on Western Vinyl records. Tom studied composition at the Royal Academy of Music before moving to New York City, where he recorded his first album with Reid Anderson (Bad Plus) and Mike Lewis (Happy Apple, Bon Iver), which was entirely improvised. On returning to London, he set up an improvisation group that became the basis for electronic-rock group Three Trapped Tigers. TTT released several highly acclaimed albums between 2008 and 2016 and toured the world with Deftones, Dillinger Escape Plan, and 65 Days of Static. They also collaborated with Brian Eno, Karl Hyde (Underworld) and Stale Storlokken (Supersilent), gaining a reputation for their intense live performances. Join host & curator Simeon Walker for a celebration of good music, good people and good times, gathered around the piano in the heart of Leeds. Brudenell Piano Sessions is a Pay What You Can event.
