Candela Fest returns with a night of live music led by two York-based bands that bring together sounds from across Latin America, with members from Chile, Mexico, Cuba, Colombia, and beyond.
York Latinos bring the vibrant energy of salsa, a genre rooted in Cuba and Puerto Rico, with a rich musical heritage and irresistible rhythms.
Cumbia Collective explores the many forms of cumbia, the Colombian-born style that blends indigenous and Afro-Caribbean traditions and has travelled across the continent.
In many Spanish-speaking countries, "candela" means candle, a symbol of light and warmth. Colloquially, it also evokes intensity and excitement. Dale Candela.
