*Bloom Sheffield is a community flower garden for women in Heeley that promotes positive mental health through therapeutic horticulture. They started in 2019 with a very overgrown allotment and some big ideas. Now, they welcome women each week into our garden to make friends, learn new skills and enjoy nature together as a community. They run Open Days each week for all women to attend, as well as weekly mental health groups. These groups support women who need help managing their mental health needs and we use the gifts from the garden to provide activities and a safe space for women to take notice, get active and feel good. They are a not-for-profit organisation, so all the money we raise goes back into the garden and helps us keep delivering our groups and sessions to women in Sheffield.
In the same venue you can also catch Carpet of Blue, a 25 minute film by Sam Wichelow capturing Ecclesall Woods during bluebell season (free entry). Liz Hanks has created a specially written soundtrack underscoring Wichelow's film to showcase one of the most colourful yet fleeting displays in nature's calendar.
