Alphaville Presents:

Dancer (Glasgow) + No Peeling (Nottingham) live at KAMERA (above the Lloyd & Platt pub in Chorlton)

Dancer are a new Glasgow band with members of Current Affairs (Tough Love), Nightshift (Trouble in Mind), Order of the Toad (Gringo records) and Robert Sotelo (Upset the Rhythm).

"Few bands have come closer to sounding like cult favourites Life Without Buildings than Dancer, but the Glasgow art-rock band wasn't even trying to do so when they wrote 10 Songs I Hate About You; Dancer singer Gemma Fleet just happens to hail from the same Bedfordshire county of England as Sue Tompkins. With her punchy vocal delivery, Fleet lights up her bandmates' mathy post-punk and charmingly imperfect synths with stories about costume contests, downtrodden characters, and clinging to perseverance. It culminates in a record that epitomises DIY: wrangling together friends for fun, encouraging each other to bring their weirdest ideas to the table, and seeing how you can pull it off with spunk." -Nina Corcoran

No Peeling: oddball punk from Nottingham.
