Zoe Gilby and Johnny Hunter (Duo)

Zoe Gilby (Voice and Electronics)
Johnny Hunter (Drums and Percussion)

This duo was brought together initially by the respect and admiration of each other's sound. Using loops and effects, the voice and drums work together with different textures and ideas, interspersed with a lyrical edge. They are developing an exciting, shared improvisational language which is anchored by melodic and rhythmic motifs, highlighted with lyrics that encourage the improvisation to move with the words, allowing their ideas to take flight.

Faye MacCalman and John Pope (Duo)

Faye MacCalman (Reeds)
John Pope (Double Bass)

Two of the UK's most wide-ranging creative musicians, long-time friends and searchers Faye MacCalman (reeds) and John Pope (double bass) bring a wealth of history and deep trust to their duo configuration. Two-thirds of genre-bending trio Archipelago and sought-after collaborators across the spectrum of modern music, these sensitive and intuitive improvisers set out to explore, weaving together spontaneous composition, adventurous improvisation and a love of songs and song form. Drawing on their own compositions, the work of inspiring forerunners and the fluidity of the moment, this duo offers a rare and unique glimpse into the possibilities of the now.
