Cia Tomasso, early jazz and swing enthusiast, singer and pianist brings her quartet to the Handyman Pub, Smithdown Road, featuring special guest Josh Duffee on drums for one night only, visiting from Davenport, Iowa. Josh is an internationally acclaimed specialist in 1920s-1940s jazz drumming, citing Jean Goldkette and Bix Beiderbecke amongst his biggest influences, so be sure to catch him while he's in town!

Cia performs regularly on the Liverpool jazz scene, bringing her love for classic standards and quirky old tunes to gigs at local bars and restaurants, including a residency at Frederiks' Hope Street Jazz. She has been singing jazz for eleven years and pays tribute to the greats at several major jazz festivals and clubs across the UK. Joining her are Martin Smith on trumpet - a staple of the North West jazz world and versatile player across jazz styles and beyond, Jack Lewis on guitar - Cia's long-time duo partner with a well-informed modern style and Parabhen Lad on upright bass - songwriter, bandleader, bassist and vocalist who is heavily involved in classic jazz projects around Liverpool.

Expect a swinging, danceable evening of well-known standards and obscure oddities as the ensemble pay tribute to their favourite songs and musicians from the 1920s and 1930s. There may even be time for a cheeky little standards jam as we dance the night away, so jazz folks bring your instruments!
