Lovers rock never sounded so rich, so real or so resonant. To mark Jamaican Independence week, Boisdale of Canary Wharf proudly welcomes two icons of British reggae to the stage: the ever-soulful Vivian Jones and the honey-toned Sandra Cross, backed by the mighty Zaine Band and hosted by smooth operator John McLean.

Vivian Jones is a storyteller, a craftsman of lyrical tenderness and conscious soul. With roots stretching back to the golden days of sound system culture, his catalogue overflows with beloved gems like “Strong Love”, “Red Eyes” and “Sugar Love”. Once described by Reggae Vibes as “the embodiment of lovers rock’s depth and dignity”, Jones’s influence stretches across decades and continents.

Sharing the spotlight is the inimitable Sandra Cross, whose velvet delivery on “I Adore You”, “You’re Lying” and “Holding You Close” helped define a generation of UK reggae. Her album Country Life was a No.1 on the British Reggae Charts and remains a go-to for connoisseurs of sweet, soul-steeped rhythm. Often referred to as “the first lady of lovers rock”, her voice carries both warmth and weight, love and liberation.

Presented with the elegance and ease only Boisdale can offer, this night is a live, living celebration of lovers rock’s indelible legacy. Set in the glow of Jamaican Independence week, it’s a full-circle moment of music, memory and Caribbean pride.
