Lovers Rock doesn't shout for attention. It settles in, melody first, rhythm steady, and before long the whole room moves with it. Golden Voices of Lovers Rock returns to Boisdale with that unmistakable blend of romance and groove, led by two artists deeply rooted in the sound.

Sylvia Tella brings a catalogue shaped at the heart of British Lovers Rock, from her landmark debut Spell, one of the genre's best-selling albums, to chart success and collaborations that carried her voice beyond reggae into the wider UK charts. Her delivery remains direct and expressive, built on clarity rather than excess.

Alongside her, Michael Gordon adds warmth and ease, with songs such as "Baby I'm Yours" , "Magic Feeling" and "Turn Out the Lights" carried by a smooth, unforced vocal style that sits naturally within the genre.

The set moves through favourites including "Spell""Happy Home" and "In a Special Way", alongside Gordon's own repertoire, all supported by the Zaine Band and hosted by John McLean. The result is a night shaped by balance rather than spectacle, close harmonies, steady grooves and songs that linger.

Born in London's reggae scene of the 1970s, Lovers Rock brought together Caribbean rhythm and British soul sensibility, creating a sound that remains both intimate and instantly recognisable. This is that tradition, performed by artists who helped define it.
