Think live PA's of classic tracks from our regular artists and maybe a DJ or two that began their career in West London and got rather more famous. This is a very special Hedkandi event celebrating one of its most beloved compilations series and tickets are very very limited.
This will be a day & night party taking you from our terrace to our main dance-floor with a soundtrack created from our classic Back To Love CDs. Expect to see Mark Doyle & Andy Norman the original Back To Love DJs plus some very special guests that rose from the West London scene.
As we celebrate 25 years of Hedkandi it's important to remember just how the legendary brand came to life. Way back in 1988 Mark Doyle and his brother created a club night at Haven Stables on a Thursday it became one of many legendary West London events that championed house disco & funk (and whatever else we felt like playing). Fast forward to 1997 and the opportunity to open a club night that played those classics 10 years later became "Back To Love." Obviously the name was inspired by the classic Brand New Heavies track and the party always took place on a Bank Holiday Sunday at a little venue called Club Azur.
Then along came Hedkandi and the opportunity to create a CD that reflected the music played at Back To Love. It included everything from classic disco, funk, balearic and of course classic vocal house. Out of all the Hedkandi CD's it's probably the most beloved and the most memorable and it's definitely Mark Doyle's favourite and most personal in the series.
It's important to remember this was pre-digital and each of the CDs contained fully remastered 12 inch versions that Mark spent much of his time hunting down to just to secure the rights to include them. From the obvious tracks like Joe Smooths "Promised Land" to the slightly more obscure "What Am I Going To Do About Your Love" by Tafuri. Just like the club nights our playlist lurched from hands in the air anthems like "Do You Want It Right Now" by degrees of Motion to the end of the night anthem "Loaded" by Primal Scream with the utterly genius Terry Farley remix.
