An Dannsa Dub biography:
Born from a love of the mystical energy and instruments of traditional Scottish / Gaelic folk, combined with the heavy, meditative driving basslines of dub reggae and dance music, together they summon the joyous, communal energy of a cèilidh and a sound system session.
Their name comes from the Gaelic for “The Dub Dance”. Their sound celebrates the ancient Gaelic and West African rhythms that influenced reggae, which in turn, via sound system culture and dub’s pioneering remixes, produced modern dance music. Their live shows and recordings are a seamless, pulsating fusion of all this and more.
An Dannsa Dub have carried this unique, unstoppable sound to the UK and European festival circuits. They thrilled a 10,000 strong crowd at Boomtown Fair, headlined sold out shows at Celtic Connections and tore up the main stage at DubCamp as well as appearances at Glastonbury and Interceltique de Lorient.
2021’s self-titled EP brought the group worldwide acclaim. This was followed by the release of their debut album in March 2023 which featured stacks of exciting collaborations; and nominations for Live Act Of The Year at both the Scots Trad Music Awards and the Scottish Alternative Music Awards in 2023 and 2024.
Having spent 2024 extensively touring the UK and Europe they're back with their highly anticipated second album 'Through the Storm' out on 1st May 2025.
The new album marks a major evolution for An Dannsa Dub, boasting stellar production from the legendary GAUDI and mixed by dubmaster Paolo Baldini DubFiles, along with an array of exciting guest features, including Junior Dread, Lewis McLaughlin, Josie Duncan, Horseman, Corto Alto, and Rachel Newton.
With its diverse influences and boundary-pushing sound, Through The Storm promises to be a defining moment in the band’s journey, offering fans a deeper and more expansive listening experience. Don't miss this chance to witness it live!
