Keighley Royal Arcade, located beneath the streets of Keighley, West Yorkshire, is one of the town's most intriguing and lesser-known historic spaces. Constructed in the early 20th century, the arcade was built as part of Keighley's commercial expansion, designed to provide covered access between key streets while housing small independent shops, offices, and storage spaces below street level.

At the height of its use, the arcade formed part of a busy underground network supporting the town's thriving textile and retail industries. Shopkeepers, traders, and workers passed through its tiled corridors and brick passageways daily, using the space for deliveries, storage, and access away from the often-crowded streets above. Over time, changing shopping habits and redevelopment of the town centre led to the gradual decline of the underground arcade.

By the mid-to-late 20th century, large sections of Keighley Royal Arcade fell into disuse and were eventually sealed off from the public. Hidden beneath modern Keighley, the forgotten corridors, shuttered shop fronts, and service passages remained largely untouched, preserving a rare snapshot of Edwardian and early-20th-century urban design.

Today, Keighley Royal Arcade exists as a hidden subterranean space, offering a unique glimpse into the town's past. The underground walkways retain much of their original character, with period tiles, brickwork, and architectural details still visible, creating an atmospheric environment that feels frozen in time.
