Lo Vu returns to Hyde Park Book Club With a full 7 piece band. Led by guitarist and producer Ben Haskins, Lo Vu blends jazz, afro beat and electronica for an infectious dance driven live show. Formed from the vibrant scene offered by the city of Leeds, Lo Vu is a collective of some of the best musicians from across The North fostering close musical relationships and collaborations. Featuring some very close friends the recent EP 'Distill' offers eclectic sound drawing influence from house, breakbeat, jazz and west african music. Emma Coates: Leeds singer and saxophonist Emma Coates is renowned for weaving jazz and folk songwriting to create her unique, intimate sound, taking inspiration from the likes of Snowpoet, Men I Trust and The Magic Lanturn. She creates deeply personal storytelling exploring feminine identity and growth, complimented by the delicate and airy tones of her voice and band. Manchild Manchild are a jazz/electronica trio from Leeds, UK. Alongside hosting tributes to artists such as Herbie Hancock, Knower and Ennio Morricone, some of their most notable gigs have been supporting Red Snapper at Brudenell and playing a Sofar gig in London. Their self titled EP, released in October this year, was born out of many late night sessions at Inspirations Central, the teaching centre where they work in Leeds. Using a convoluted mixture of cassettes, field recorders and voice memos, they embrace tape and digital artefacts in their music.
