MAGNOLIA // CWRW
We’re chuffed to announce that Magnolia, Norwich’s self-styled purveyors of “experimental post-rock from God’s womb” are joining us in West Wales to mark new release ‘Under the Gaze’. They’ll be accompanied by Cardiff art rock outfit Blue Amber. Fans of Black Midi, Maruja and BC,NR will love this one!

Praise for Magnolia:
“The most confusing but wonderful mosh pit I’ve ever seen” - Stereo Sanctity
“It feels like you’re fumbling in the dark, excavating layers to the beginning or the end of the world. From the depths of this crafted cacophony, spring chinks of delicate melody - Magnolia are an experience” - Shit Horse Disco
“A supercharged fusion of both new and old. An exquisite woven tapestry of avant-garde rock. They are wild and gritty yet joyful and uplifting…bursting with method, spirit and feeling” - Shake Shake Records

Blue Amber fuse Lynchian soundscapes, Dadaist and political lyricism and Art Rock with instrumental hip hop and free jazz. Starting life as an introverted bedroom project before blossoming into a supergroup of sorts featuring members of Cardiff’s numerous jazz and psych groups, Blue Amber have made a name for themselves on the live circuit in Wales with their sonically diverse offerings, and songs inspired by an increasingly divided world. Taking inspiration from acts as diverse as The Books, Miles Davis, This Heat and Julianna Barwick, Blue Amber refuse to be pigeonholed into a particular genre.
Their live shows, complete with powerful double drums and the snarling poetry delivered by frontman Drew Noel, make for an intense experience that has been compared to the likes of Arab Strap, Black Country, New Road and These New Puritans. The band have supported the likes of Maruja, Deadletter and Italia 90 and played a number of festivals including S?n and FOCUS Wales.
Blue Amber’s debut album, Rockland’s Workshop, received acclaim from Clash, BBC Radio Wales and Circuit Sweet. Their follow up EP saw them collaborate with Minas, Ani Glass and Rubie, amongst others.
