Pre EU Tour show | New venue layout
Marconi Union continue to side step traditional genres forging their own path.
In their music can be found hints of Dub, Jazz, Ambience, Minimal Techno and Electronica, which are blended together with melodies and spaced out guitar riffs to give a unique atmospheric experience.
They frequently draw comparisons to artists such as Kraftwerk, Brian Eno, Biosphere, Tangerine Dream and Boards of Canada, while at the same time moulding these influences into their own distinct sound. Tracks from their new studio album The Fear of Never Landing have been described vicariously as Electronic Head Music or a new Electronic Shoegaze.
Marconi Union have worked with many artists including Jah Wobble, Max Richter, Biosphere, Steve Jansen (Japan) and Marina Ambramovich Institute. The group have previously played at a variety of festivals and events, notably Big Chill festival and Punkt! Festival in Norway, the latter at the invitation of Brian Eno where they we asked to play live re-mixes of the previous performer's works.
"Minimal, introspective, ethereal electronica - gorgeous" - The Guardian.
"Exquisite, subtle soundscapes, an essential purchase for ambient addicts" - DJ Mag
"Brilliant, but why do they play this size of venue? Its almost like some dirty little secret, it's fantastic." - Andrew Vevers
Apta
Apta sits in the dreamy middle ground between crackling ambient, languid post-rock and blipping minimal synth while sounding exactly like none of them. A restorative, lysergic drift.
ANTONYMES
Antonymes is composer, and conceptualist Ian M. Hazeldine, making music and film at the edge of, deep inside and from above North Wales. Antonymes music is at the same time something very firmly definite and a ghostly impression, a careful reduction, a fragile, phantom recollection and rearrangement of the direction and redirection. This is also reflected in his film work. Slow moving tapestries of light and shade.
"Exceptionally beautiful" - Mary Anne Hobbs
"A terrific instinct for timing and spaciousness and a taste for the kind of chamber music tone that creates a sense of gravity" - Pop Matters
"Both abstract and melodic but always with a hint of melancholy" - Headphone Commute.
