Acclaimed saxophonist and composer Matt Anderson returns to Leeds for a special
performance at HEART Headingley on the 21st February, 2025. Playing alongside local
musicians Sam Quintana, Dom Neeson and Joseph Frost-Tesfaye, this performance will
be one not be missed.

A former Leeds resident and winner of the Dankworth Prize for Jazz Composition,
Anderson’s artistry is widely celebrated. His latest album “Live at Leeds Jazz Festival”
was released in 2024 on his own Hidden Threads Records label, with Jazzwise awarding four stars and commenting, “a well-integrated, swinging and supremely confident ensemble... [with] a soulful depth to his musicality that underpins the academic attention to detail”.

Now based in London, Anderson has immersed himself in the city’s explosive jazz scene, performing with artists/bands such as Will Vinson, Gareth Lockrane Big Band, The Magic Lantern, and Ivo Neame. His career has also taken him to international stages, including tours across New Zealand, Eastern Europe, and Scandinavia. Despite his global acclaim, Anderson maintains a strong connection to Leeds, where he performs and records with top-tier artists such as Jamie Taylor, Jamil Sheriff, and Jiannis Pavlidis (in collaboration with Greg Hutchinson).

In addition to his achievements as a performer, Anderson is a dedicated educator, coaching ensembles at the Junior Royal Academy of Music in London and serving as a Principal Lecturer at Leeds Conservatoire.

Support will be from Leeds vocalist Daisy Drew Quartet.

Doors open 7:15pm. Event start 8:00pm. Curfew 10:00pm.
