About Ovid’s Metamorphoses

This performance is based on episodes from Metamorphoses by the Roman poet Ovid, born March 20, 43 BC in Sulmona (present-day Italy), who died in exile in Constan?a (present-day Romania), on an uncertain date.

The selected episodes from Ovid’s extensive work are part of Western popular imagination: Narcissus, Echo, Pygmalion, Daphne, Arachne, Daedalus, Icarus, Orpheus, Eurydice, among others, appear in this show, their stories shaped by the theme of metamorphosis – transformation and change.

In times of rapid and radical transformation, it is meaningful to return to Ovid’s texts for their revealing insight into human nature and its extremes.

This show takes on an optimistic perspective; we believe the best in people prevails and that, despite adversity, we can find a balanced and joyful path.
