November's "DJ Lubi Presents" show at Hyde Park Book Club Leeds is a real treat. One of the finest alt-folk/soul singers in the UK today showcasing her new EP - London-based singer, songwriter and guitarist, Olive Jones. She's joined by a Leeds music scene favourite as support act - singer/songwriter KIndelan. A perfect musical match.

Olive Jones draws on soul, blues and alt-folk to produce her sumptuous melody driven music. Growing up singing along to the records of jazz greats and soul icons, the voice and its ability to captivate and evoke emotion has always been at the forefront of her musical passion. Her songwriting aims to capture an essence of being human; exploring topics of love, loss and communication observed through her lived experience. Expect honey-drenched vocals, luscious production, beautiful harmony and songs that will stay with you long after you've listened.

After being awarded the Women Make Music grant from the PRS Foundation last year, Olive released her first three singles through Republic of Music.
Since August 2023 she has accumulated over 1.2M monthly listeners on Spotify with over 1.9 million streams across her singles and received support from the BBC introducing team at Radio Solent.
Olive has toured as the featured artist with Leeds soul outfit Gotts Street Park and collaborated with them on their leading album track “Tell Me Why” as featured vocalist. The single was playlisted on BBC6 Music and championed by Elton John on his Rocket Man show on Apple Music.

She has supported Daptone Records' rising star soul singer Jalen Ngonda on his 2023 and 2024 tours in UK and European cities as well as opening for the legendary global beats musician Nitin Sawhney on his UK run earlier in the year. She has recently returned from performing with Bombay Bicycle Club as their female vocalist on their tours throughout the UK, Europe and North America. She supported them at a number of venues on the EU tour and in Mexico this May. Now Olive is due to release an EP in October 2024 and support American artist Aaron Frazer on his UK and EU dates.

With a run of shows in November to promote the new EP, including a date at London Jazz Festival, she'll be dropping into Hyde park Book Club with her trio as part of the northern leg of the tour. Definitely one "not to be missed" for lovers of deep soul and alternative folk. Beautiful songs from a world class singer.

Support comes from Leeds/Yorkshire alt-soul/jazz vocalist/guitarist/songwriter Kindelan. She's well known in the city having already packed out venues like Hyde Park Book Club, Hifi Club and Brudenell Social Club. Kindelan’s highly anticipated debut EP titled 'you can reach me if you try’, dropped in May 2023 and quickly established her as an “enchanting, head-turning force” in the independent UK music scene. The release received both local and national support from DMY, Atwood Magazine, Dead Good Music and airplay from BBC Radio 6, regional BBC Introducing and BBC Radio One's introducing show with Gemma Bradley, hailing ‘Feast’ as the "perfect chill-out song”.

Often likened to Lianne La Havas and Hiatus Kaiyote's Nai Palm, her EP features guitar driven compositions dripping in rich vocal arrangements, layered organic instrumentation and poetic lyricism. In 2024, she impressed many music critics/fans with her guest vocals for the Acid Jazz Records album release by the Modern Jazz & Folk Ensemble, and appeared with them at their sold-out album launch at the legendary Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club in London.

Tonight, she performs a set of her original music in a stripped-down trio format with herself on guitar and lead vocals plus regular band members Sam Curwen (bass guitar) and Luca Ferrara (drums) backing her up. The perfect opening act for Olive Jones.
