"Unstoppable dance music." - The New York Times
Orchestre Poly-Rythmo de Cotonou is one of Africa's most innovative and influential orchestras, shaping the sound of West Africa.
A dynamic fusion of hard afro-funk, driving afrobeat, and deep afro-Latin and Cuban grooves, their unique sound ruled the dance floors of 1970s urban Benin.
Formed in 1964, the group quickly became the powerhouse of Benin's music scene, crafting a sound as innovative as it was infectious-earning them a place alongside legends like Fela Kuti, Manu Dibango, and Ernesto Djédjé, with whom they often shared the stage.
Their music remains as powerful today as ever-a deep, polyrhythmic groove that transcends generations.
