Oyama is a five-piece shoegaze/indie collective from ReykjavÝk who has just released their second full-length album Everyone Left, which finds Oyama strikes a balance between elusive reality and tangible dreams. Their new album has a contemplative vibe and shares thematic threads with its predecessor.; their idiosyncratic songwriting earning recognition from leading music media. As KEXP's Jim Beckmann noted, "Sharing a name with the relatively small Japanese central city, [the band] has grown into a sonic metropolis of multiple influences, from psychedelic to ambient." Tracks were recorded at Sundlaugin studio of Sigur R¾s and mixed by ┴rni Hj÷rvar ┴rnason (The Vaccines). SUPPORT: Swallowtail - "Swallowtail are a Brighton-based four-piece originally from Nottingham. They blend the fuzzy aspects of shoegaze with the intricate melodies of post-punk, creating an elegantly gritty soundscape."
Featuring guitarist Alison MacNeil from cult Icelandic-Canadian math rock unit Kimono, Oyama creates a sound that combines a steady urban pulse with serenity, and with guitar delay causing ripples on the sonic pond, their sound is truly immersive.
