PSYCHEDELIA IN CHORLTON

The Liverpool Psychedelic Society was founded by members of Liverpool band Thee Lucifer Sams and friends, and have organized gigs around the globe (Los Angeles, Austin, New York, Reykjavik, Rio de Janeiro, Tangier, and several UK Locations ) since 2019. Now, we are planning the launch of a new record label, to showcase a wide range of talent fgrom the psychedelic spectrum and beyond.

We've done events at The Dulcimer before and it's a pleasure to return to this venue in the heart of Chorlton for our first event of 2025 (in collaboration with Magic/k Dreamachine from Los Angeles), showcasing four solo artists that are in the pipeline for the first batch of releases from our upcoming label:

Hollywood Bob's Sparklestars (from Los Angeles, CA.)

Bob (formerly known as Texas Bob) is the former guitarist in post-punk legends Television Personalities. His solo sets are unique and powerful and over the years he's made celebrity fans such as Pete Doherty, MGMT, Kevin Shields (My Bloody Valentine) and Alan McGee, of iconic label Creation Records (Oasis, Primal Scream, My Bloody Valentine) who collaborated with Bob in a series of Creation Dream Machine events in Los Angeles and UK. Besides being a talented singer, songwriter and performer, Hollywood Bob is a promoter in Los Angeles where he books acts to play at The Rainbow and other venues.

Ivan Thunders

Ivan Thunders is the guitarist in Thee Lucifer Sams, but in acoustic solo mode goes for a more psych-folk, sixties vibe that might interest fans of Neil Young, Nick Drake or Syd Barrett, playing some unforgettable tunes that sound classic, already. Originally from Rio de Janeiro and now living in Hamburg, Ivan has ben part of the Liverpool music scene for almost 20 years. He played in Ladytron's most recent album Time's Arrow and created and curated the Acidfest Psych festival events in Reykjavik, SXSW in Austin Texas, London, Liverpool and Bristol.

Esa Shields

Esa remains one of Liverpool's most unique and underaprieciated talents. His debut album Ovum Caper is a masterpiece lauded by Wired and other influential magazines and earned him award nominations and a support slot with Jane Weaver. He rarely performs live and it's a rare treat to witness one of his sets.

Dominoes

Dominoes is Dom Lewington, one of the most talented and versatile musicians and multi-instrumentalists in Liverpool, who's played with bands such as Pop Levi, Zukanican, Feral Wheel and Thee Lucifer Sams. His solo sets, under the moniker Dominoes offer brilliant pieces of psychedelia that owes to Syd Barrett (as the name suggests) but also show a nvery personal style.

 

As always at Liverpool Psychedelic Society events, you can expect great music all night long and trippy visuals that'll really make this night more than just a gig, but a real psychedelic happening.
