THE COMIC BODY - POETRY OF FAILURE
 
Failure is a superpower! Inspired by cartoons and silent films, we celebrate the “Comic Body.” We use masks as a tool to find precision and slowness, before transitioning to cartoon physics and visual comedy. We learn to celebrate “failure” and find tenderness within the monster. Use your body to bypass your brain: discover that the audience loves you more when you fail magnificently.

About AURÉLIEN LOISEL:

Aurélien Loisel, also known as Aurel or Teddy. He faces a strange paradox: during the day, he is a strict math teacher; at night, a semi-professional fighter (“Amaku”); and always, an improviser (since 2013). Teaching since 2019, he gives monthly workshops in French-speaking countries (in French or English) and performs at festivals.

Pedagogically, he balances extreme care with high standards. He prioritizes emotional safety and well-being, never forcing a student. However, his math teacher side remains demanding in terms of content to ensure progress. His experience in wrestling has led him to fully integrate the body into his workshops.

As a director and actor, his current research focuses on two axes. First, The Invisible: exploring losers and counterintuitive choices in his shows “Shy!” and “Le temps d'un arrêt.” Second, The Form: breaking narrative codes in “Life is a Ring” and “Les Météores.” His work aims to break “polished” improvisation codes to achieve a visceral truth.
