The Meadow Sessions: An Autumn Equinox Gathering

This September we're opening up a special spot on the edge of Sheffield and the Peak District for an afternoon of live music in a woodland meadow.

Held just before the Autumn Equinox, The Meadow Sessions marks the turning of the seasons - a moment of balance before autumn settles in. Expect an afternoon of great music, time outdoors and a chance to enjoy one of the last long days of the year in a beautiful setting.

Programme

1:30pm - Gates open

Feel free to join us from 1:30pm to explore the woodland or bring your own lunchtime picnic to the lawn. 

2:00pm - Slow Flow Yoga with Rose Martin

Sheffield yoga teacher Rose Martin will lead a gentle, accessible slow-flow yoga session. It's completely optional, so whether you'd like to take part or simply settle into the surroundings, you're very welcome.

3:00pm - ROSH

'Beautiful stuff... warm folk music' - BBC Introducing 

 ROSH is a songwriter and musician who takes influence from folk and jazz. At the end of 2025 he released his new album, 'those unknown we resemble'. It's about how we can only survive, and thrive, by seeing ourselves in each other. The new record expands on ROSH's commitment to exploring ecological conciousness, as well as the complexities of human desire, fallibility and mortality in rich, orchestral, song.

4:00pm - Lou Gold & The Alchemists

Sheffield singer-songwriter Lou Gold performs songs from her debut album, A Body of Water, joined live by her friends and bandmates The Alchemists. Blending indie-folk, vintage soul and rich vocal harmonies, her songwriting draws inspiration from the landscapes of Sheffield, the nearby Peak District and the faraway sea, exploring themes of nature, politics and transformation. Reviewing, A Body of Water, Now Then magazine called it, "A fantastic expression of modern soul and folk music - a powerful spectrum of energy and intention."

5:00pm - Cowbird

Closing the afternoon, COWBIRD is a band of Sheffield musicians, featuring Al Gordon (double bass), Laura Hegarty (clarinet), Ben Chapman (dobro guitar), Rob Nutt (percussion), and Heather Morgan (guitar/vocals) - blending dusty soul, old gospel, prairie folk, and shanties. Known for their close vocal harmonies and collaborative spirit, they bring rich, acoustic songs that feel perfectly at home in the open air.

Stick around after the last band to enjoy the space as the sun goes down.

7:00pm - Event closes

What to bring:

A picnic blanket or camping chair

Your own picnic and drinks (BYOB)

Layers for when the temperature drops later in the afternoon

A yoga mat if you'd like to join the opening session

A few practical things:

There is clean, running water and compost toilets but otherwise, amenities are limited. Please bring any food and drink you desire.

This is a guest event with limited tickets.

The meadow sits within a small area of woodland and is reached by a short walk from the parking area. The route includes uneven ground, so please wear suitable footwear.

The event space itself is mostly open grass. If you have any access requirements or would like to discuss the walk to the meadow, please get in touch before booking - we'll always do our best to help.

How to get there:

Put "Flying Horse Lawn" into Google maps. Parking is limited, so please taxi, cycle, use public transport or car share if you can. The car park is in the field through a grey gate on Lodge Lane opposite Fox Hagg Farm. The 257 bus takes you to the bottom of Lodge Lane. The 51 bus takes you to the top of Lodge Lane.
