The Pastels are a super influential Glasgow-based group whose roots go back to the early 1980s Rough Trade post-punk scene. They recorded singles for RT, Creation and Glass and eventually an enthusiastically received debut album, Up For A Bit With The Pastels. They were on the NME’s scene defining C86 cassette. In the 1990s the group re-configured around a core trio of Stephen McRobbie, Mitch (Katrina) Mitchell and Annabel Wright. Three studio albums, two soundtracks and two compilations have followed, all either on Domino or their own Geographic imprint. Slow Summits, their most recent album, was shortlisted for the Scottish Album Of The Year. The group currently consists of Stephen McRobbie, Mitch Mitchell, Tom Crossley, John Hogarty and Suse Bear.
