VIENNESE CHRISTMAS SPECTACULAR BY CANDLELIGHT

Cork City Hall, Cork.

Frequently asked questions:

Thank you so much for booking tickets to our concert! Below is some information we hope will be useful ahead of your visit.

What time do doors open?

Doors open 45 minutes before the start of the concert. The seating in each price band is unreserved, so it's worth coming early.

How long is the performance?

Performances are usually around 2 hours. There may be an interval depending which venue you visit. If you would like to find out please contact info@candlelightconcerts.co.uk.

What should I wear?

We don't have a specific dress code. We would like our audience to be as comfortable and relaxed as possible to enjoy the performance. Also, some cathedrals don't have the most comfortable of seats! Please feel free to bring a cushion along to sit on for comfort.

Can I sit with my friends?

All our seating is unreserved in each price band, so the earlier you arrive, the better the seats you'll be able to get. If you're in a larger group, we strongly recommend you arrive early to ensure that you can all sit together. As most of our events are sold out, it really is worth getting there in good time to make sure you're seated where you want to be.

Is the venue wheelchair accessible?

Nearly all of our venues are wheelchair accessible and we can cater to any specific requirements you may have. We endeavour to accommodate everyone at our concerts, so if you have any requests please do email us at: tickets@candlelightconcerts.co.uk

Can I take photos or videos during the performance?

Yes! We welcome any photos or videos during appropriate moments in the concert and we would love to see them on social media after the show. But please be respectful of those around you, and do make sure your flash is turned off before you start filming!

What happens if I'm late?

Latecomers will be allowed to come in and wait by the entrance until a suitable moment in the performance (usually at the end of piece) and can then find a seat. You may not be able to sit in your seating band until a longer break in the performance, such as the interval of the concert, so as not to disrupt the performance.

Are there any age restrictions for our performances?

No, not at all! Anyone can attend our concerts and we encourage children to come along! Our performances are a fantastic way to begin a journey into classical music.

Can I get a refund if I can't make it?

Unfortunately, we don't offer refunds, but we will always offer you the option to exchange your tickets to one of our other events, either in the same venue or any other venue in the season! We want you to come and enjoy our exceptional candlelight concerts!

If you have any questions on any of the above then please feel free to get in touch via email and a member of our team will endeavour to respond as soon as we can.

We look forward to welcoming you to our concert!

More information about VIENNESE CHRISTMAS SPECTACULAR BY CANDLELIGHT tickets

This programme celebrates the elegance, charm and sheer joy of the Viennese tradition with a dazzling selection of orchestral and vocal favourites.

At its heart is the music of Johann Strauss II, the "Waltz King", whose works capture the wit, sparkle and irresistible energy of 19th-century Vienna. From the effervescent Die Fledermaus Overture to the playful Tritsch-Tratsch Polka, literally "chit-chat" or "gossip", culminating in The Blue Danube, one of the most famous waltzes ever written: an unofficial anthem of Vienna and a piece that has enchanted audiences for generations, from grand ballrooms to the silver screen in 2001: A Space Odyssey.

Alongside Strauss, the programme explores the many moods of the waltz, from Shostakovich's jazz-infused Waltz No. 2 to the haunting beauty of Sibelius's Valse triste. Tchaikovsky brings a touch of magic with the graceful Waltz from The Sleeping Beauty and the much-loved Nutcracker Suite, with some of the most recognisable music ever written - from the delicate sparkle of the "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy" to the sweeping beauty of the "Waltz of the Flowers".

The programme also shines a light on the golden age of operetta, with soprano favourites including Lehár's Meine Lippen, sie küssen so heiß and Vilja, Suppé's Hab' ich nur deine Liebe from Boccaccio, and two sparkling moments from Die Fledermaus: Adele's famous Laughing Song and the fiery Csárdás. Korngold's Serenade from The Snowman adds a note of nostalgic warmth to this richly coloured programme.

Full of elegance, nostalgia and exhilarating musical colour, this is a concert to lift the spirits and delight audiences of all ages.
