Celebrating 200 years of the Railway with a star-studded line up of locomotives from the steam and diesel/electric eras. Starring the world-famous A3 60103 “Flying Scotsman” courtesy of the National Railway Museum. “Flying Scotsman” will be on static display in the Roundhouse yard on Friday 10th October to allow visitors to get up close to the world-famous steam star. On Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th October, “Flying Scotsman” will be hauling trains on the Springwell branch line. Also featuring many other locomotive exhibits including: - A Class 55 “Deltic” courtesy of the Deltic Preservation Society, which will be hauling trains on Friday 10th October. - A Class 93 courtesy of Rail Operations Group. - A Class 99 courtesy of GB Railfreight. - Locomotives courtesy of Freightliner, Colas, Swietelsky and Hanson & Hall Train rides, trade stands, food and drink, free parking and much more, including… The World Premiere of “I am George Stephenson”, a play created by the young people of Graves Youth Theatre and Paul Whitfield A humorous look at the life and achievements of railway pioneer, George Stephenson, the play has been devised using letters, newspaper articles and other historical sources. Enjoy the imaginative physical storytelling the young people have employed to share George Stephenson’s story as part of the Railway 200 celebrations. Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th October 2025 Performances at 2pm and 3pm – seats can be reserved alongside entry tickets. There is no additional charge.
