Fire & Dust – A Woody Guthrie Story

"Reg’s terrific songs tell Woody’s life story with respect and affection, but also truth."
– Pete Townshend

For the live launch of his third powerful song cycle, Fire & Dust – The Woody Guthrie Story, Reg is joined by the band he recorded the album with : Geraint Watkins, Phil Beer, Marion Fleetwood, Simon Edwards, Roy Dodds, and narrator Will Kaufman (Emeritus Professor of American Cultural History at the University of Central Lancashire).

Commissioned and produced by Pete Townshend, Fire & Dust takes audiences on a journey into the heart and soul of one of America’s greatest folk musicians, Woody Guthrie, through the lens of one of England’s most impactful singer-songwriters, Reg Meuross.

Reg Meuross’s songwriting is unmatched in contemporary folk, with songs about forgotten heroes, famous figures, folk legends, the climate crisis, and tales that resonate with both personal and global significance. If a story needs telling, Reg has a song for it, and Fire & Dust is another remarkable chapter in his legacy of impeccably researched, emotionally charged storytelling.

This new song cycle highlights issues of racism, bigotry, corruption, and inequality through the lens of Guthrie’s life and music, drawing vital parallels between the struggles of the Dust Bowl era and today. Every song showcases Meuross at his finest, presenting stories from social history that remain powerfully relevant.
