Intensive Workshop CHARACTER CONCERTO: A thousand ways to create lasting characters through music

This workshop is not about singing well, or even knowing how to sing. It's about discovering your character's voice.
It is a 12-hour improvisation workshop dedicated to creating rich, grounded and lasting characters. We will explore various ways to build characters that feel alive and specific, using music as a powerful source of inspiration, emotional drive and rhythm. Gradually, we will invite singing into the work, not as a musical skill, but as an expression of the character. The focus is not on singing well or performing musicals, but on using music and voice to increase risk, deepen presence, and allow the audience to forget the actor and truly see the character.

About VINCENT VAN NIEUWENHUYZE and MIGUEL TAPADAS:

VINCENT VAN NIEUWENHUYZE is a native of the charming city of Ghent, an experienced improviser, teacher, and coach with over 15 years of experience bringing scenes to life.
By day, he is a project and process facilitator, tackling the corporate world with the same creative flair he brings to the stage. But when it's time to geek out, this dynamic neuro-specific dives into his other true passions: gaming, rolling the dice in Dungeons & Dragons, and embracing his otaku status with an ever-growing list of anime to watch.
On stage, his goal is to create magic through intimacy, warmth, and boundless energy, making each scene fresh and fun. Off stage, he is equally passionate about helping others unleash their creativity, keeping the fun in the fundamentals and exploring gender and queer themes in performance.
Whether he's teaching, killing it on an improv stage, leading a dungeon adventure, or leveling up his online character, Vincent's motto is simple: “Be yourself!”

MIGUEL TAPADAS began studying music as a child, later enrolling in the Piano Course at the National Conservatory, and then at the Lisbon School of Music, where he completed his degree in Music Education and Choral Conducting. Musician, pianist, composer, arranger, producer, orchestrator, musical director, and choral director, his musical work covers a wide range of genres, from jazz to traditional music, world music, fusion, pop, rock, orchestral music, improvised music, etc. As a musical director, pianist, and producer, he has worked and continues to work with numerous artists on the national scene, such as Fausto Bordalo Dias, Matias Damásio, Navegante, João Gil, Uxukalhus, Eneida Marta, Carlos Alberto Moniz, Amélia Muge, Anabela, Virgem Suta, João Cabrita, Filipa Tavares, Isabel Silvestre, Chelsy Chantelle, Maria João Fura, Costa Neto, Pessoa Júnior, BICA, etc. This career has resulted in an extensive discography.
