Mixed-Team IMPROV PUPPETS – GIVING LIFE TO OBJECTS

It is often said that “puppet theater begins where the actor's possibilities end.” Puppetry opens up an infinite field of expression, especially through metaphor. In this world, anything can become a puppet: an object forgotten in a bag, something on a writer's desk, or a childhood toy that still carries memories and emotions. If we are attentive enough, objects already have a life of their own. A sculptor once said that when he looks at a piece of wood, he already sees the work of art inside it—his role is simply to bring it to light. The same applies to puppet theater: the puppet already has a life of its own; our role is to help it speak. But what is the story being told? Ultimately, it is our own story, expressed through metaphor. Puppetry becomes a powerful tool for personal expression, imagination, and nonverbal storytelling, allowing artists to bypass realism and access deeper, more symbolic layers of meaning. This workshop explores the intersection between improvisation and puppet theater, encouraging participants to discover characters, emotions, and narratives through animated objects and forms.
